國中畢業身障男 為母自製輔具

溪湖鎮民蔡明岳是小兒麻痺患者，小時候在喜樂保育院長大，他只有國中畢業，但為了照顧85歲的媽媽，他設計了許多電動輔具，更樂觀面對人生挑戰。

48歲的蔡明岳一歲時罹患小兒麻痺症，被送到喜樂保育院生活就學。他國中畢業後沒再升學，但他對電子設備很感興趣，在職訓中心學習電子技術，就開始設計電動輔具，也曾去輔具公司上班。他是身障人士行動不便，加上媽媽年紀越來越大，他只好離職在家，他的四個姊姊湊錢請了看護照顧媽媽，但生活費則只能倚靠補助。

「雖然家中有看護，但我還是放不下。」蔡明岳裝上自製的拆卸式電動車頭，輪椅瞬間變成電動車，他就可以到市場去採買；他在母親病床上加裝電動吊帶，方便將母親移到輪椅上，以免身材嬌小的看護搬不動母親，反而使母親在移動過程中受傷。

蔡明岳設計出軌道式曬衣架，只要按一個鈕，就可把衣服升到高處曬，也把水槽、瓦斯爐改成電動升降式，讓他即使坐在輪椅上也用得到。他說，一般輔具公司製作的輔具，都是統一規格，客製化的輔具量少價高，「我們生活已經不容易，哪有錢買客製化輔具？」

蔡明岳說，若有身障者需要特殊輔具，他很樂意幫忙設計和製作；他最近還學習焊接，希望從設計到製作，都可以獨力完成。

「堅定的信仰，讓我能樂觀面對人生。」他說，小時候受到「喜樂阿嬤」的教導，讓他能堅強面對生活的困難，這次母親申請低收入戶補助遇到困難，以後母親的醫療費不知該從何而來，但他堅信上天會有最好的安排，「我希望政府能多照顧身障者，我們若能克服身體障礙，一定也會努力回饋社會」。
